Mid Sussex Blues – Minutes from meeting held on 10 February 2018

Mid Sussex Blues Minutes

Meeting held: Saturday 10 January 2018 at The Burrell Arms, Haywards Heath

Iain MacLean (Chair), John Joyce (Committee Member), Daryn Buckley (Secretary) Julie Joyce, Malcolm Pilling, Jonathan Chandley, Steve Chappels, Phil Grabsky, Adrian Askew

Rod Cummins (Treasurer), Mark Payne (Committee Member), Dave and Harrison Bennett , Kirsty Bennett, Paul Dronfield, Heidi Robinson, Paul Kavanagh, Dave Ewing, Gil MacLean and all those at the match.

Actions from last meeting

Daryn to send update of Loyalty Points with minutes (completed)

Venue for Future Meetings (Iain)

It would appear that The Water Mill in Burgess Hill has closed at least temporarily and has stopped showing Sky games so we need a new venue to watch games and hold meetings at.

The following venues were considered:

  • The Burrell Arms
  • St Francis Social Club
  • Point Cinque, Uckfield
  • Red Lion, Lindfield

It was unanimously decided that the Red Lion in Lindfield would be the preferred venue if they were willing to have us and, if possible, we could use the quiet area at the back of the pub.

Action: Iain to discuss the feasibility of this with the landlord of the Red Lion.

Treasurer’s update (Rod Cummins via John Joyce)

Match tickets

Carabao Cup Final

MSB tickets are in East Stand Level 1, Block 105, Rows 2-8 inclusive – prices are: Adult £72, OAP/Jnr £36. Awaiting tickets from MCFC.

Wigan (FA Cup): 1

Arsenal (a) (1 March): 5

Brighton (h) (18 March): 2 – awaiting allocation.

Remains at 94 – final deadline for new members is 31 March.

Social Update (John Joyce)

John is writing to Pablo Zabaleta to see if he can either come to a Legends Night or, potentially, an AGM. He is going to dust off his phrase book and draft it in Spanish to see if that will help further.

Also, on Friday 9 March through to Saturday 10 March, John is doing a 24-hour radio marathon in aid of Headway East Sussex, a charity which offers rehabilitation and support services for people with acquired brain injuries, their families and carers.  It is a charity of which fellow Mid Sussex Blue Mark O’Hara is a trustee.

Loyalty Points Update (Daryn Buckley)

The loyalty points table is now up to date and the latest figures up to and including 10 February are posted below these minutes.

Date of Next Meeting

This has been pencilled in for Sunday 18th March top coincide with the home game against Brighton. However, this game is subject to change as that weekend is FA Cup Quarter Finals weekend and, if we get past Wigan, we’ll be playing in the cup. The venue is likely to be the Red Lion.

Action: Daryn to confirm the date, time and venue for next meeting by email once the outcome of the FA Cup 5th Round game v Wigan is known.
